Loyola University's hockey team blanked McKendree 6-0 in the home opener in Chicago. Early goals in both the 1st and 2nd periods by David Katz and Jon Tlusty set the pace for the remainder of the game as the Ramblers consistently unleashed a flurry of offensive attacks upon the scrambling Bearcats defense. Relentless offensive pressure from the Ramblers ran the short bench of McKendree ragged.
By the third period the Ramblers had pushed their opponents to the brink of exhaustion and pocketed 4 more goals, with one goal in particular (Jon Tlusty's second goal of the night; assisted by a behind the back pass from McDonnell) that left the Bearcats completely baffled and bewildered. Although the shots against the Ramblers were kept in low 20's, junior goaltender Adam Sabh was forced to make a few nice saves to preserve the shutout. The game was an overall excellent effort by the Ramblers to gain momentum for the long road trip ahead of them. The Ramblers won't be playing at home again until mid-november, but road game updates will be frequent so keep up to date with the website!
