Ramblers scrape by Eastern in the most exciting game of the year
Updated:  02/01/2010 at 8:44 PM
If you had told any of the Ramblers that their game on Friday January 29th would end in a 15 goal game, it is safe to say that none of them would have believed you. Never have the Ramblers encountered such a back and forth game this season, but they prevailed none the less despite a penalty shot being awarded to Eastern University within the last minute of the game. Eastern opened the scoring by pocketing a quick wraparound behind goaltender Adam Sabh in the first minutes of the game. They followed the goal with another by a lucky bounce off the boards that ended up on an Eastern stick with an open net. The Ramblers answered with 3 goals before the end of the period going into the locker room up 1 goal. The rest of the game would be a series of offensive opportunities that both teams capitalized on at every chance they got. With 2 minutes left in the third period the Ramblers were looking at an 8 - 6 lead, but Eastern managed to surprise Rambler's defenseman Hughes and goaltender Sabh on a shot that knicked the post and into the net to put the Panthers within one goal. As if that was not enough to tantalize the Ramblers, Eastern was awarded a penalty shot after Al Bangs dislodged his net with :25 seconds left in the 3rd period. Such a great push by the Ramblers, on a team ranked much higher then them, was put on the shoulders of Sabh. The shooting Panther  didn't quite seem to get the handle on the puck that he wanted, giving Sabh the opportunity to push the puck into the corner preserving the Ramblers first win over a Gold Division team of the season.
