For the first time in MACHA history, the Ramblers will be heading to the post season! The team will be heading down to Peoria next Friday for a game against Marquette with the winner advancing to the semifinals. Loyola and Marquette will be joined by Iowa State, Aurora, Bradley, Nebraska, Missouri State, and Robert Morris-Peoria, who the Ramblers will face this weekend in two tuneup games before the big dance. This year's team has been getting a lot of recent support from some of the earliest members of the club and winners of the 1975 Central States Collegiate Hockey League championship.
This tournament will mean something special to the team's seniors. Jordan Hawkins, Keegan Thornton, Matt Evans, and Tyler Kovach have all looking forward to the tournament for four years. Hawkins said, "Every year we set a goal of making playoffs, and we finally did it. Now that we've made it, we want to show the rest of the league what we're made of."
On accomplishing their long-term goal, Thornton said, "Win or lose, we know that we've made it and accomplished something special. These will be my last games as a member of this team, and I am so proud of everything that we've done and overcome throughout the season. I couldn't have asked for a better ending."
